Just by shaking his hand, you know Kip is heavily involved in every car that enters his collision shop.
Kip Sheehan started painting cars at 16. But it was not that easy. His boss would not give him a chance. At age 15, he studied the painters as he swept the floor and took out the trash - memorizing their actions and waiting for his day. As an employee, it never came, so he took matters into his own hands and purchased his first car - a 1968 Pontiac Lemans that he refused to let anyone do mechanic work on, and no one but he was going to paint it. He popped out the dents and sanded them when he could. He waited for a weekend when no one was in the shop so he could finally paint his first car and put all of his knowledge to work. Of course, Kip decided on the color canary yellow, and in what could only be called beginner’s luck, his first paint job turned out perfectly!
Kip believed in himself and opened his first collision shop in 1985. It was super small, but he was making progress and growing a client base. He had to move around a few times until he finally found a stable place in 1989 when he launched Margate Paint and Body. He had one paint booth, one frame machine, one lift, and 4000 square feet of space. The place felt like heaven!
In 2010, Kip moved to Boca Raton and opened Sheehan’s Collision. As in the past, his loyal customers came with him. Thirteen years later, Kip is still at this location and has expanded to two paint booths, two frame machines, and 8000 square feet of space.
Over the past 40+ years, Kip has developed long-lasting friendships and a loyal customer base. Most importantly, he's still making a living doing what he loves.
